Two Kings and a Coin

Mark 12:13-17
And they send unto him certain of the Pharisees and of the Herodians, to catch him in his words. And when they were come, they say unto him, Master, we know that thou art true, and carest for no man: for thou regardest not the person of men, but teachest the way of God in truth: Is it lawful to give tribute to Caesar, or not? Shall we give, or shall we not give?

But he, knowing their hypocrisy, said unto them, Why tempt ye me? Bring me a penny that I may see it. And they brought it. And he saith unto them, Whose is this image and superscription? And they said unto him, Caesar’s. And Jesus answering said unto them, Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s. And they marveled at him.

Meditation

Things of Caesar
Things of Man, are earthly, carnal or sensual things. Man is full of things of this material world. Worldly riches, honor, vain glory, pleasure and pride, that occupies the mind of man, are things of Caesar.
Any thing that hinders the growth of the spirit, any thing that hinders the word of God, any thing that takes precedence over God, is Caesar’s.

Things of God
Celestial & Spiritual things, that is, the things of good and truth, are things of God, for God is Spirit. We must serve God in Spirit and truth. We Love God, by loving others. By obeying His commandments and laws, allowing God to direct us in the way he(God) wants us to walk, stand, or sit, we serve His Kingdom. Having faith in God always, is the way to please him.

Offering Sacrifice:
That is, denying self for the will of God. Showing the goodness and blessings of God to other people. Rendering help where it is truly needed, that is to serving His Kingdom, God’s work, and not for materialistic selfish ends. Surrendering all things that worry us to God, because He knows our needs more than we do, and He cares for us and for all people.

CONCLUSION
Anything that drives away the word of God from us is Caesar. Anything that carries one’s concentration or focus away from Christ and His cross, is Caesar.

Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are honest, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

Brethren, may the God of Peace be with you all – Amen.
